For most people starting a new fitness journey, cardio is usually the first step. It’s definitely a vital part of a balanced workout plan, but it goes far beyond just torching calories.
Cardio is also cardiovascular or cardiorespiratory training. It is training that involves movements aimed at increasing your heart rate and hence improving oxygen consumption by the body. Cardio causes your heart to work harder and in turn function more efficiently.

There are different ways of doing cardio which include:
Walking – Walking is great exercise to burn fat and for overall wellbeing. It is the beginner exercise for people who are starting out on cardio. But is a moderate activity burning only a few number of calories.
Running – Running can burn about 600 calories per hour which is quite good for weight loss and body health. It is also a great way to improve cardiorespiratory fitness. While running, you get to work the hip, flexors, hamstrings, quadriceps and calves. It is good for a lower body workout.
Cycling – Cycling uses similar muscle as running and a physical bike is not necessary. There are stationary bikes that can be used. It is excellent for burning body fat, and improving fitness and athletic performance.
Rowing – Rowing on a machine is an excellent total boy workout for stripping body fat. It works the main muscles of the body and burns more calories per hour than other cardio exercises.
Swimming – Swimming is also an excellent total body workout which burns a high number of calories.
Jumping rope – Jumping rope correctly works the calves and the shoulder muscles quite amazingly. It requires skill, strength and focus. It burns a lot of calories
